Early Life and Playing Career
Roberto De Zerbi was born on June 6, 1979, in Brescia, Italy. He began his playing career with local club Lumezzane in 1998 and went on to play for several clubs in Serie A and Serie B, including Brescia, Foggia, and Napoli.
Coaching Career
After retiring from playing in 2013, De Zerbi began his coaching career with Serie B club Foggia. He led the team to promotion to Serie A in 2017 and stayed until 2018. He then moved to Sassuolo, where he led the team to eighth and sixth-place finishes in Serie A.
In 2021, De Zerbi left Sassuolo to join Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. He won the Ukrainian Super Cup and Ukrainian Premier League before leaving in July 2022 due to the ongoing war.
