A Legendary Career Comes to an End

Today, Robert Lewandowski announced his retirement from professional football. The Polish striker, who has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in the world for over a decade, made the announcement in a press conference at his home in Warsaw.

Lewandowski began his career with Legia Warsaw in 2006, and went on to play for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. He won numerous titles with both clubs, including eight Bundesliga championships, five DFB-Pokals, and the UEFA Champions League in 2020.

At the international level, Lewandowski represented Poland 132 times, scoring 76 goals. He was named the FIFA Men's Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021, and was the top scorer in the Bundesliga seven times.

"I have decided to retire from professional football," Lewandowski said. "It has been an incredible journey, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to have played this sport at the highest level.
