Jamaal Bowman Congressional Voting Record

Congressman Jamaal Bowman Missed 31% of Roll Call Votes

Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) missed 63 out of 2001 roll call votes between January 2021 and June 2024, according to data from GovTrack.us. This represents a 31% absentee rate, which is significantly higher than the average absentee rate of 2.5% for members of the House of Representatives during the same period.

Bowman's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. However, in a statement to the New York Times, Bowman said that he missed some votes due to scheduling conflicts and family emergencies. He also said that he always votes when he can and that his constituents know where he stands on the issues.

Bowman's high absentee rate has drawn criticism from some of his constituents, who argue that he is not adequately representing their interests in Congress. However, Bowman's supporters defend his record, saying that he is a strong advocate for his constituents and that his absentee rate is not an indication of his commitment to the job.
