Former Host Announces Departure on Instagram

Longtime host Max Joseph is leaving the MTV show "Catfish" after seven seasons.

Joseph announced his departure on Instagram on Thursday, July 19, 2018, with a heartfelt post thanking the show's fans and crew for an "unforgettable journey."

In his post, Joseph explained that he had decided to leave the show to pursue other projects. "It wasn't an easy decision, but it's the right one for me," he wrote. "I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this incredible show, and I'll never forget the amazing people I've met and the stories we've told together."

Joseph's co-host, Nev Schulman, also paid tribute to his longtime friend and colleague on Instagram. "Max, it's been an honor and a privilege to work alongside you for the past seven years," Schulman wrote. "You're a true friend, and I'm so proud of everything we've accomplished together."

"Catfish" is a reality television show that follows Schulman and Joseph as they investigate online relationships that may be fraudulent. The show has been a critical and commercial success, and has helped to raise awareness of the issue of online catfishers.
